Ever heard the phrase "An apple a day keeps the Dr. away?" I am sure you have wondered where that came from. It actually originated from the original proverb about eating an apple a day, which came about in 1866, was: “Eat an apple on going to bed, and you’ll keep the doctor from earning his bread.” When I found this out I thought wow what a marvelous quote! Now with that being said of course we LOVE our Dr.'s because they save so many lives, but you can save yourself by making better choices in life as well. Remember 8 out of 10 deaths are HEALTH related!

Did you know that apples are filled with Soluble Fiber? This fiber has been shown to reduce intestinal disorders, including diverticulitis, hemorrhoids and possibly some types of cancer. Studies have indicated that eating apples daily can reduce skin diseases. According to a Brazilian study, eating an apple before a meal helped women lose 33 percent more weight than those who didn’t. So why would you not want to eat a delicious sweet juicy apple??

Apples are also packed with vitamins C, A , and flavonoids and with smaller amounts of phosphorus, iron,calcium and provide a source of potassium which may promote heart health. Make sure that when you eat your apple that you do eat it with the skin on as that is where the nutrients are.
